Okay, new question.
A halfling can wield a Scimitar in one hand. +2/1d8/High Crit
A halfling needs to wield a Longsword in two hands. +3/1d8
...
What the crap?
Why is the scimitar (an "equal" weapon to the longsword, battleaxe, warhammer, flail) the single best weapon for a halfling?
If they can wield scimitars one-handed, why can they not wield longswords? (The blade length seems to be pretty similar on any examples I've found, ranging from 30-33 inches.)
Why does a shield-using fighter only have the option of heavy blades and light blades as military weapons? Wearing heavy armour, dex would not be a primary attribute most of the time, making it impossible to reach the levels requires for the light blade feats, meaning the scimitar is, again, the hands-down best.
And, more to the point, would it really be unbalancing to allow small characters to use one-handed weapons normally? Or, hell, even two-handed weapons (though we could just say use a versatile weapon for that, I guess)?
You get no benefit for being small. Yet any non-rogue martial character suffers a disadvantage.
Sigh. But I don't really want to go into the implications of doing all that...
At the very minimum, there need to be some non-versatile, non-throwing military weapons statted up.
Who's with me?
How about the following:
--
Hatchet
+2 / 1d8 / - / 10 gp / 3 lb / Axe / Off-hand
Light Hammer
+2 / 1d8 / - / 10 gp / 3 lb / Hammer / Off-hand
Light Flail
+2 / 1d8 / - / 5 gp / 3 lb / Flail / Off-hand
Light Pick
+2 / 1d9 / - / 10 gp / 3 lb / Pick / Off-hand, high crit
And, just because I'm already here, let's do one for the Scimitar as well.
Kukri
+2 / 1d6 / - / 5 gp / 2 lb / Light Blade / Off-hand, high crit

How do those look?
