Seems like this must have come up before, but I can seem to find anything in the FAQ or scanning through various message boards.
Can a winged creature fly thorugh a space (tunnel or corridor)that is no wider than its space? I think yes, but there is little support I can find. What I have:
Many monsters in the MM (including dragons) don't list wingspan. There are no squeezing rules in the DMG or MM that I can find that address squeeze flying. Leads me to think its not important enough to have a exception rule, so use standard movement rules in PH.
On the other hand, Draconomicon does list a "Minimum Wingspan" for dragons to maintain flight that appears to be almost twice a particular size categories space. These are optional rules only. Would they apply to say, a giant eagle or the paladin's pegasus in a dungeon?
Note for 4th Ed. Maybe winged creatures should all have a wingspan entry and a note in the DMG about "squeeze flight?"
Thanks,
AG
