Grommon Movement |

If Apes and monkeys and baboon have 30feet or 40 feet of ground movement then why does the grommon have only 20 feet of ground movement? Should it not have 30 feet of ground movement?

Hmm. What's that from? I don't recognize the monster. MM II has the Gambol, a large magic carnivorous cousin of the apes, which has a 30 ft speed also.

It is from MC7, the first Spelljammer Monstrous Compendium, which also included the Giant Space Hamster...

I remember the Grommam I think, it was also called the Space Monkey. Why wasn't the Giant Space Hamster included in the Spider Moon game I wonder ? The GSH was the first critter with Templates I ever saw more or less
Whatever happened to Roger Moore anyway he was the creater of the GSH wasn't he ? |

IIRC, the Tome of Horrors has the Giant Hamster monster. OK, no mention of space, but you can't have it all.

Re: GSH | ||

monstrous compendium from spelljammer, eh? well, for starters that's not the same edition, so the base speeds have changed. further, the giant space hamster was removed because mr collins was trying to get away from goofy humor in his spelljammer setting (as you would know from reading other entries on the site) and thus decided not to include the entirely pointless giant space hamster. I for one agree with the decision, as I try to DM semi-serious campaigns which really have no place for the giant space hamster or its ilk.

All of the old spelljammer material is 2nd Edition, that doesn't mean it isn't useful. Personally I quite like the Giant Space Hamster, the gnones, and especially the Giff (and lets no forget Dwarves in Space!!!)
